My Future - Update (July '08)

The Freakonomics blog on the New York Times today linked to an article about a guy I've been blogging about for a while now, my true American hero, John Kanzius. This post links to this article about his cancer-destroying machine. Remember, you saw the story first on Nobody Doesn't Like Molten Boron.

Seriously, I think it's great he's finally getting legitimate attention. First local news, then some blurbs in larger outlets, then a break on 60 Minutes and now some of the smartest guys in journalism are recognizing how cool Mr. Kanzius is. (Belated props to Lizmonster, who tried her darndest to get the story in the Wall Street Journal, and whom I envy because she got to interview him.)

Keep being awesome, John.
Does this remind anyone of several people you know?

I came up with a really great post at work, and now I forget what I was going to say. Sorry, readers.

Courtesy of Max Power: Mandles! Finally, scented candles for men! I recommend watching the commercial the site links to first, then browsing the scents.

If anyone's thinking about buying me a gift to thank me for introducing this to you, my apartment doesn't smell nearly enough like Bacon Jalapeno Cheeseburgers...

This game ate up way too much of my night. And my high score was only in the 1200s.

[Editor's Addendum: As soon as I posted this entry, I clicked on the link, like an idiot, and started playing again. In under 2 minutes I hit a score of 1668. I think I might suck at life.]

So apparently it takes the First Tigress a full 10 minutes to pick out a shirt to go with neutral color shorts. I had the same dilemma this morning, a pair of neutral colored shorts and no predetermined top to complete my ensemble. First Tigress and I were going to the same place, so we had the same attire requirements. I solved my quandary in roughly 9 seconds. That makes me almost 67 times as efficient.

This also means the First Tiger joins the First Tigress (along with Groucho and Lilly when she's not hitting me) on my Unofficial List of Saints.

It's a robot that solves rubiks cubes. That's pretty cool.

My Random Updates (Jul 08)

Today I saw an unusually large number of people in suits. It was really hot out. I feel bad for them.

Also, courtesy of Yet-to-Pick-a-Pseudonym, the rules of Faceball. It looks extra fun if you have siblings.

Furthermore, my new apartment is fantastic. I'll be back to my more regular blogging soon, now that the move is mostly complete.

Finally, this article on healthy foods has been a NYTimes favorite for what seems like a record number of days now. If a bizillion Northeastern liberals enjoyed it, maybe you will too. It has convinced me to start putting cinnamon on my breakfast cereal.

My New Blog?

So Chuck and I are thinking of starting a blog together. It would be primarily about food. Recipes, ideas, food science, nutrition, experiences, and reviews of restaurants and dishes. We're also searching for a good name for the blog. We need it to be catchy if it's going to make us famous foodies. It should have something to do with food, and possibly Philly as well (Philly gives it a personal touch, an angle for the blog, and street-cred among foodies, because Philadelphians love to eat).

But my problem is I can only think of bad puns. So I'm starting a contest: if you can come up with the name we eventually use, we'll feed you something! So far I've got ideas like:

Food Box (Homer's food critic column when the "E" key breaks on his typewriter)
It's Always Hungry in Philadelphia (I like this one a lot more than Chuck)
Philly Mignon

Also, I've got some lame ideas. But I won't post them here.

Lastly, Chuck suggested "Two Guys Who Like Food" (which I like as well).

So if you have any ideas, post them in the comments, please. Also, any thoughts on this undertaking.
